Paediatric Committee (PDCO)

The Paediatric Committee (PDCO) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is composed of 31 members.


The PDCO has been entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities:

 

  • Assess the content of and approve paediatric investigation plans (PIPs)  
  • Monitor adherence to PIPs
  • Assess studies for their therapeutic benefit for the paediatric patients participating in the study and the paediatric population at large 
  • Prevent unnecessary studies from being performed
  • Evaluate the data obtained
  • Assess the efficacy and safety of medicinal products for paediatric use
