The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the Danish authority that the Danish tissue bank Cryos International ApS (DK257551) of the disease of a 2-year-old child conceived with theyear old child conceived with semen from donor 8151.The report of the disease describes a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
There are no relatives in the donor's family affected by ASD. The risk assessment provided includes the following information:
Autism spectrum disorders vary in severity and usually have a multifactorial pattern in inheritance with a low risk of recurrence in paternal half siblings.
The risk of recurrence by using the same donor's semen is estimated to be 1-3%.
