The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care was informed by the Romanian authorities that, following intrauterine insemination and subsequent prenatal genetic testing, trisomy 18 was suspected, which was later confirmed by a chorionic villus sampling (CGH array). In addition, there was a suspicion of a complex heart malformation.
If clinics or private individuals have received sperm from this donor, they are asked to report this to the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care at gewebevigilanz@basg.gv.at or contact the tissue bank from which the sperm donation was obtained directly.
This letter corresponds to the current status of information from the BASG. Further information will be provided as soon as it is available.
