Drug transport temperature

messages in brief | 13/07/2009

Medicines can quickly lose their effect if stored improperly or at too high or low a temperature. The German Medicines Act therefore regulates in detail how medicines must be transported and stored. The prescribed storage conditions of a drug are also noted on the drug package.

In order to check whether pharmaceutical suppliers actually comply with the regulations, BASG/AGES PharmMed organized an Austria-wide action day on July 13, 2009. Pharmaceutical inspectors waited at 16 points where medicines were handed over to pharmacies and checked the outside temperature, the type of medicines and the quality of temperature regulation in the hold of the transport vehicle.
