Safety notice regarding counterfeit products: Hearing aid New
The Federal Office for Safety in Healthcare (BASG) has issued a warning about a counterfeit medical device that was offered for sale via the AliExpress platform and which could be mistaken for the genuine product “Hearing Aid with Bluetooth 16 CHANNEL Hearing Aids Rechargeable for Deafness High Quality with Noise Cancelling audifonos” by the manufacturer “Austar Hearing Science and Technology”.
According to the manufacturer of the genuine product, the counterfeits can be identified by the following feature: catalogue/reference number ‘5216B’.
Counterfeit medical devices are not manufactured in accordance with the quality standards and legal requirements applicable to genuine original products. Their origin is unknown. Counterfeit medical devices pose a potential health risk and should therefore not be used under any circumstances.
The BASG requests that any suspicious observations relating to the above-mentioned devices be reported by email to the BASG (medizinprodukte@basg.gv.at) and to the manufacturer (yangyiqun@austar-hearing.com) or its European authorised representative (regulatory@obelis.net).
