West Nile Virus (WNV) - Germany

The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) that human WNV infections have been recorded in the Harz region in Germany during the current season. It is therefore requested that appropriate attention be paid to this in the medical history discussions and donor selections.

This letter corresponds to the current information status of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
