West Nile Virus (WNV) - Italy

The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) that a human WNV infection has been recorded in Italy during the current season.

It is therefore requested that appropriate attention be paid in the medical history discussions and donor selections. This letter corresponds to the current state of information of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
