West Nile Virus (WNV) - Romania

The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) that the first human WNV infection has been recorded in Romania in the current season.

It is therefore requested that appropriate attention be paid to this in the medical history discussions and donor selections.

This letter corresponds to the current state of information of the BASG. Unfortunately, details of the affected region are not known at present. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
