WNV Romania - Update

The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care was informed by the Romanian authority that a humane WNV case (confirmed meningitis/encephalitis) was recorded in the county Constanța. The following measures were taken by the Romanian authority:

• Mobile blood donations will be stopped in the affected area until the end of the WNV season
• Persons living in the affected area will be temporarily barred from making donations until the end of the WNV season
• Persons who have stayed in the affected area are excluded from donation for a period of 28 days

We therefore ask for appropriate attention in the anamnesis interviews and donor selection.

This letter corresponds to the current information status of the BASG. As soon as further information is available, it will be announced.
