WNV Update Italy

The Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has been informed by the Italian authority that (in addition to the regions already announced) in Barletta-Andria-Trani (Apulia region), due to the finding of WNV NAT positive horses ,ID WNV NAT testing has been introducedfordonors of blood and blood components .

Nationwide in Italy, donors who have spent at least one night in these regions are WNV NAT tested or 28 days excluded from donation. Therefore, it is requested to pay attention to this in the anamnesis interviews and donor selections
