"Medikamente Info Austria" provides compact medication information in a new design New
The new medicines information system of the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) will go live on 10 February 2026. The previous information from the “Medicinal product index”, the "Shortages index", the "BASG Announcements" and the "BASG Votes" will be merged into a compact medicines information portal at medikamente.basg.gv.at.
The new "Medikamente Info Austria" has also been optimised for use on mobile devices and therefore meets the current requirements of many users. A FAQ page has been created for general questions and is available here.
Important milestone
With "Medikamente Info Austria", the BASG has realised an important milestone in improving patient safety: For the first time, the new information platform combines all essential medication information on the joint website medikamente.basg.gv.at.
The aim of the modernisation and consolidation was to provide information on medicines in a clear and easily accessible manner and to present it in an optimised way, especially for mobile devices. In addition to the data from the "Medicinal product index" and the "Shortages index", the "Export ban index", the "BASG announcements" and "BASG votes" have also been integrated.
The register replaces the old information pages with immediate effect. To ensure a smooth transition, users who access the previous links will be automatically redirected to the new address until the end of 2026.
We invite you to actively use the new comprehensive source of information on medicines in Austria. An electronic questionnaire is also available for feedback.
Information on the registers included

- The medicine shortages index shows currently reported supply bottlenecks for medicines.
- The Export bans index shows current export bans on medicines.
- The BASG announcements contain up-to-date information on BASG procedures and decisions.
- The BASG votes allow you to access the BASG's decisions on a daily basis.
