The products of the manufacturer "Allergan Aesthetics", a company of AbbVie, are facial fillers that are used in aesthetic medicine to treat wrinkles and to change the appearance of the face.

At the time the products were stolen, they were considered compliant products that met all release criteria of the manufacturer. As these products get out of the AbbVie’s chain of custody, AbbVie cannot guarantee the storage neither the usage conditions. Therefore, the performance and efficacy of the products cannot be guaranteed. There is also the possibility that there are products in circulation that are not intended for the European market. The remaining stocks of the affected batches in AbbVie's inventory have been destroyed, as it is not possible to distinguish them from the stolen products.

Based on the information currently available, the BASG asks that suspicious activities in connection with the above-mentioned products be reported by e-mail to the BASG medizinprodukte@basg.gv.at and to the manufacturer (quality.austria@abbvie.com)
